So, if you’ve been following along this week, there’s only twenty four hours left before the glitz and the glamour hit the Red Carpet….FUN! The menu is planned, the wine has been purchased and I’m ready to go! But before all the beauty fun starts…one last tribute to Gramps and Great Gramps…the family Movie and Entertainment vets! (Those are some dapper dudes, I’d say!)
So….while writing these posts, I couldn’t help noticing how history seems to keep repeating itself. Not only did they both pave their own way through Hollywood, they both authored books about their lives in the industry and spent the latter part of their careers producing and directing commercial and industrial films. They even had the chance to work together on hundreds of “Scenic Shorts”….movie travelogues that rolled before the feature films. So in honor and memory of….
Robert C. Bruce Sr. (1887-1948) Helen, his third wife and 30 yrs. his junior gave birth to twins the same day he passed away in the hospital room next to hers. One of the twins, Roberta, also died that day. The other twin, Josie, lives in California.
(…..I don’t think even Hollywood couldn’t have written an ending like that.)
Robert C. Bruce Jr. (1914-2003) Married to my Grandmother for 62 years. He was the best kind of Grandpa and a great inspiration!
